What type of a tree

Had a tree come up in a flower bed and thinking of just keeping it. I would like to know what type it is and why I should or shouldn't keep it?

Some people call these Manitoba Maple trees, but they are actually a Box Elder. Will get big, and eventually may disrupt your foundation. You can trim it and keep it low and bushy if you want. We have one that grew in the front flower bed at our house, and we left it there - gives nice shade on the front porch now.

Actually, they are the same tree, just another name for it

This flower bed is over 20 ft from the house so no problem with the foundation, It is approx. 9 ft from the garage and I will trim it above the roof line. I think I will keep it and see how it turns out.

With them come pesky maple bugs. Very annoying
