Anyone know the best place to buy Grass fed beef/other meats? Do any of the places in town buy their supply from these resources?

Depending on what you want, the local butchers all can supply grass fed beef. You can also buy a whole beef from a farmer and have it custom cut to your specs.

Try calling some abattoirs, I know the one in Killarney usually has awesome farm fresh beef that is only finished with Barley. Klassen farms has a lot of meat and I think it is not finished. It had a great taste but was tough.

Here's a really cool website you can play around with. I just checked off only the Beef box and 21 farms come up. Then you can see who is behind these farms and what they offer by clicking on their links. There's one called Howpark Farms near Brandon that have grass fed beef (and more) for sale.

There's tons on this website from finding Manitoba farms that offer meat, poultry, dairy, eggs, veggies, fruit, grains, trees, seeds, Fibres, personal care stuff, CSA programs, Farmer's Markets, U-picks, etc.  
 
Personally I love the products from Henry Meats (2.5 miles North on Prov. Rd. #270 off Trans Can #1 West of Brandon).  
 
They also have a public FB page anybody can check out, whether your on FB or not. I can't 100% for sure say they offer grass fed beef, but I know their roasting chickens are farm raised, free range, not force fed, antibiotic free, no additives, etc. so they do care about that kind of stuff. Might be worth a call.  
 
In the meantime, you might find a nice match on the above website.

Tried a grass fed pork and was not a fan. Seemed tough and dry. Really felt I’d wasted my money. I would buy a few packages to try before taking a whole side!!

I like grass fed meat better than grain fed as it's a lot less fatty, but because of that you can't treat it the same as conventional meat. It takes a little more care in the kitchen to successfully prepare. (The slow cooker is your friend when it comes to really lean meat.)

pork and beef are totally different when it comes to finish and final taste. Not trying to be funny - - I was a butcher for 40 years. Grass fed and finished is okay but give me grain (barley and wheat/oats) for beef any day and oats finished pork

The gluten that is contained in grains that cattle eat are broken down by digestion of the feed, so the gluten never gets into the protein of the meat, it is turned into other types of proteins that are used for muscle development and maintenance of the animal.  
As for grass fed beef, I''m not a fan because of two reasons, one is usually lack of marbeling, it is possible to get some marbeling in grass fed beef but it take high quality feed and time, lots of time. The second reason is I''m not crazy for the flavor. Each type of feed a feeder animal eats will affect the final taste of the meat, it''s not really the taste of the meat that changes but the flavor of the fat in and surrounding the meat.  
This is just my opinion, but if I didn''t want grain fed beef I might look at bison instead of grass fed beef.

Because it is sort of a niche market tends to be more pricy, I know that Tendercuts does carry it and I imagine other butcher shops would as well, one place that did sell bison meat was a place that most people would not of thought of, give Morningstar metal a call and see if they still handle it.  
From my understanding gluten is broken down by any digestion process whether in animal or humans, and the digestion of gluten is what causes the problem. All proteins have to be broken down to amino acids to be of use to our bodies, gluten sensitivities or reactions are sort of like reactions to other eaten products which cause reactions, some proteins are difficult to break down and end up producing allergic reactions or other medical conditions.  
As a kid I would chew up wheat and end up with a substance the resembled gum, this is the gluten in wheat and it likely is one of the worst of grains for gluten, and wheat flour ends up in many products, and gluten is also used as a binding agent in many processed foods, if you are looking for a binding agent in any food gluten is a product of choice. So it is out there in a very large number of products

What about animals fed soy? Do we get the gmo soy when we eat the meat or same thing happens as gluten (Isn't wheat gmo'd? Not sure).... I've thought about Bison but only seen it at Coop and it was pricey for a small amount, so will have to see if its sold anywhere else in town? "

Not sure about soy...I assume it would affect the flavor negatively.  
 
We used to get some great beef from someone, but when they started feeding corn, the flavor changed a lot to taste really bad. So, we bought some beef from someone else. We could taste that it was corn fed...not good flavor in our opinion.  
 
I believe that the grass finished push came from those in the US who didn't like CORN (a grain) fed...which is mostly what is fed there because it is cheaper. Grain finished in that case meant CORN...not wheat or barley grains. Somehow in translation and through misunderstandings, "grain fed" came to i:nclude more.  
 
What they eat certainly changes the flavor of the meat.  
 
As for Henry's Meats, service is excellent, but we got meat there that we had some issues with (negative effects from). It was not Henry Meats fault, but that of one of their suppliers. They don't have just one supplier and not everyone feeds the same way. If the OP wants to know what are problems were, please contact me by PM.  
 
Bison is tasty, but is expensive no matter where you buy it.  
 
Wheat is not GMO at this point. Corn, soy & canola are mainly GMO.

think that grass or grain fed would have any difference on gluten sensitive people. I might be wrong but I think the conversion of grains through the animal would not have residual effects.
