What is wrong with my apples?

Hi ebrandon,
We have a couple of apple trees in our yard, but this year one of the trees produced apples with this weird marbling inside. They taste good still, but it's like the flesh inside is of different colours ever so slightly in random splotches/layers. It's not worms, that much I know as I know what that looks like.
Only one tree seems to have done it, although the other tree is about a week behind (as it usually is), so it might be a case of it's not done it yet.
Does anyone know what could be wrong with my apples? Are they safe to eat and can? Could it be because of the dry weather? I'll try taking a picture and posting, but I'm not sure it will show up in photos.
I've tried Googling it, but I can't find anything (unless I'm not describing it well enough for Google?).
This is our 8th summer in this house and it's the first time the trees have ever done this. The tree looks otherwise healthy, and the apples are perfect-looking on the outside, same as always.
