Best Digital Camera For Photography.......

Hi everyone. I am starting a portfolio for photography. I have my First Wedding In Sept and need to buy a camera. Now I need some input on the best digital camera for your moneys worth. I am also looking for one no higher then 800$$. I tried 3 of them today and Loved the picture on the Sony A200 DSLR, But was recommended to use Nikon or Cannon. But when I checked these 2 cameras the Images looked darker and less clear. What would you recommend the most? and why?
