SUV with bad alternator. What to do?

Got a 2011 Ford Escape with at least 270,000 kms on it, probably needs a new alternator.
I've already spent a couple of grand on other repairs.
It's got a dent on the drivers door from a deer hit and a cracked windshield.

Advice, should I get a new alternator or trade the car in??

no point in trading, you probably get better money at a scrap yard or part out.

You can buy a new alernator or get one from wesman salvage used. IF you do buy a new one, CT usually take back the old one and give you something back in cash.

Dumb question but why didn't you get your vehicle fixed when you hit the deer? That would have fixed the dent and windshield would it not? Then at that point I would have just fixed the alternator.qq

I went through their sold listings. Your vehicle is worth $600. That is what they go for your year, kliks, if it had been written off. No dealer will give you that.

wesman salvage, and keep driving it,

someone might want something like that at the lake to drop the boat in the water, or a farm yard truck

Talk as if the SUV is a write off. We don't know that. How bad is the crack? My truck passed safety with one crack. Dealership wpuld fix that on the current owner's autopac coverage. How big is the dent?

Might be time to check trade in value-or sell it yourself. Check kijiji for comparison pricing. A 2011 should still have some value even with 270000 km on it. Fix the alternator.

don't waste your money on used electrical parts ,buy a new one and only pay labor ounce,if the used one fails they will give you another used one but you will pay the labor again,and again ect.call "the garage" they have the best prices on parts and only charg for the work that is done,noi extra crap 204 571 3550

Thanks to everyone for their responses.

I did get a used alternator for 100 bucks from Westman salvage. And thanks to the fine work of Thomas at TB repair got it replaced.

Looks like I've gonna drive this car for a while, cracked windshield and all.
