What everyone's experience with EcoDiesel? I've heard good and bad so I'm curious. Has anyone deleted the DEF system? What difference did it make? Where did you get it done? What did it cost? How many KMs is the engine good for?

If you plan on ever trading in or selling it, don't delete. The latest safety inspection regulations state that you need to have all factory pollution control. You will find some guys willing to safety for private sale but will not be able to trade at a dealership.  
 
These trucks get great mileage the way they are on the highway. If you are just city driving, buy a gas job. Diesels don't like not getting to running temperature. Most people that complain do a lot of start/stop driving and are not happy with mileage and performance.

I deleted mine when the DEF system failed and the repairs were going to cost more than deleting it. I went with Green Diesel Engineering and would highly recommend them. They can also tune your engine to be more efficient without deleting it. I gained a couple liters/100 km in fuel economy.

You are right. But an inspection is required to register a vehicle that you buy. Inspection is only good for a year. In 2017 Manitoba began refining its inspection policy to become more like other provinces. They started with commercial trucks but now i:nclude light vehicles. Pollution control devices are i:ncluded in the inspection. All factory installed pollution control must be there to pass. Sure you can sell the vehicle without it but whoever buys it will be pretty upset when they need a safety and fails because stuff is missing.

Your GDE hot tune, did u opt. for a high idle or engine braking. Does it help with throttle response. Does it work for shorter trips around town without clogging the egr quickly.

Yes I got the high idle and engine braking. In cold weather it warms up very quickly now. I don’t tow so I really don’t need the braking feature but it fascinated me so I got it. I feel that it’s worth the money especially if you do some towing. Yes it helped with throttle response. Another great bonus is that now it smells like a real diesel lol!
