I am replacing a battery for a lawn mower. I removed the black cable first and then when doing the red, I still feel like there is a current behind it! What am I doing wrong! I am scared to touch it now!.

If you touch the wrench on anything metal while undoing the positive cable it will spark

If the negative (black wire) terminal is disconnected, then there will be no spark if your wrench goes from the positive to anything metal, with the exception that if you touch from the positive terminal to the negative terminal of the battery you might have a problem if there is any voltage left in the old battery.  
On re-hooking it up, first secure the battery if there is a hold down or a strap, bolt on the red wire to the + terminal, then attach the black wire to the - terminal. You should have no issues.

If you are concerned that the old battery might still have a charge, do this... Take black electrical tape and cover over each of the wires ends. The wires are insulated from you getting shocked or touching anything that could arch and/or be electrified. Done. Now, keep going in taking off the old battery and replacing it. If you are still scared, get someone to take over.
