Simonwalcal said "I'm taking some professional lessons right now myself to prep for the road test and I can attest that shoulder checking is indeed important. In fact there were many things that are either different or just not followed by other drivers "teaching" me.
- use your signal well in advance (half a block-ish), not right at the turn
- even if you can't see it, observe the stop line which is usually a foot or 2 behind the stop light or stop sign. Stop there first and creep forward if you don't have foll visibility of traffic
-always enter the 1st available lane (curb lane) unless there is a vehicle. From there, do a shoulder check and signal to proceed down the street
There is probably more that I haven't thought of, but those are a few I picked up so far. I can't say anything about parallel parking because I haven't gotten that far yet lol.
I know you said you can't afford it, but I do recommend at least some training. Don't forget the road test is $30 a pop. "
May I ask who you're doing lessons with and what the costs are? If I fail my test this week I'd definitely save for whatever lessons I can take to prepare me for the next test.
