Drive it. If it bothers you that you own one then sell it. Or maybe call your dealer and see about getting the programing changed.

Are you sure it's the one with the engine that's listed as being rigged? Not all of them were.

Id just try and relax till VW comes up with a plan, they cant leave that many people hanging with faulty cars and expect to stay in business, they are one of, if not thee largest manufacturers of cars in the world.  
And now would be a real foolish time to try and sell it you would get screwed,

Honestly, don't worry about it. It isn't doing any harm to the vehicle.  
 
If I owned a VW that was one of the ones with the defeater switch, I wouldn't do a damned thing. You're getting 60mpg, there's bigger fish to fry.

There isn't anything wrong with the cars, it's just the chip that puts out incorrect information. Diesel is still more economical than gasoline, it's just that they lied about the impact on the environment. If that bothers you then wait to see if VW will buy it back... if not you still have a nice car!

Yes it is a 2012 vw Jetta tdi. Just feel deceived. Yes no bad fuel economy. It gets closer to 50 on the road than 60.  
Looked at a chev Cruze diesel

Now would be a bad time to rush to any decision. Trading it now ensures you will get less for it than it was worth last month. If VW comes up with a fix that makes it meet emission standards, all may be well. If they can't, a company with the reputation VW has is likely to try and make it right with consumers.  
 
My biggest concern would be that the "fix" may affect mileage or drivability. I guess we won't know about that until after the fix.

I'm sure any redneck will tell you that "Rollin coal" is all the rage nowadays. Yee-haw!  
 
But seriously, any "fix" would just be a de-tune and decrease power and mpg. Your car is not going to single handedly ruin the environment, personally I'd just leave it be.

I'd drive it. There's nothing wrong with the car itself. In all likelyhood the car will recieve a minor tuning change and that will be it.  
 
And to be fair, that truck in the picture is a pre-emissions superduty. Granted the moron tuned it to do that, but with newer trucks with stock emissions equipment if i tuned mine to do that the DPF would be plugged in about 5 seconds rendering the truck useless. You can add power to a diesel truck and still be somewhat clean. The guy in the pic is an idiot, that will and has ruined it for the rest of us.  
 
There are changes coming down the pipe for diesel owners that will make it very difficult to tamper with emissions equipment and still be able to safety. Good thing imo.

the problem was found using north american and UK standards and the emissions were 10 to 40 times the allowed level of nitrogen oxides,which sorry to say is bad. It is not just a program error it's an engine issue. They used a program to hide the facts, if they program the car to run to the legal standards then your powerful fuel efficient car becomes a gutless not so fuel miser
