Ford truck exhaust manifold

To the people that have done it, or paid to have it done. How much work is it to do it yourself, or how much did you pay to have an exhaust manifold replaced on a Ford truck with the 5.4L engine?

Had one side done at the dealer not long ago on a 2010 with 220,000 km. I think it was 800-1000 to get it done. What really gets you is broken bolts if there is any they really add to the labour. Also had it done on a 2009 the previous year with about the same km's. Seems to be a common issue.

Had mine done last year. Right side done at local shop in town. Did excellent work. Think I was quoted 600 plus 80 for every bolt that broke off. None broke off. Was all good. No more ticking. I know it was a common Ford problem due to manifolds overheating and warping. Funny how after mine was fixed I could hear so many others that had the same problem.

I had a 2008 and had to do both sides a year apart. Passenger side is cheaper because its easier to get to and more room to work. For the drivers side they had to lift the motor because of were the studs were. Also had studs break so there was welding. Passenger side was about $600 total, drivers was $1000. 2006-2011 fords are famous for it, manifolds warp and split

Take off you fenders if you try to do it yourself, much easier.
