I am looking at registering for the motorcycle course and i am a little concerned on my jacket. They ask for a sturdy denim or leather etc.. jacket. I have a Yamaha mesh jacket with all the padding.. does anyone know if this would be ok?

Is the attire that you are wearing going to stand up to sliding down the pavement at 50km/h or faster? If the answer is no, then it won''t be ok.  
 
I would love to wear a Tshirt and shorts on 30C+ days, but I don''t in case something happens. I try to dress to minimize road rash. Hope this helps. Good luck.

By padding, do you mean armour? Yeah, that's even better than denim or leather :-)

Ya it's got all the padding for shoulders, spine, and arms. But the rest is mesh and I can see thru it.. just don't want to get denied going in for the road test lol. I'll try to attach a pic.

changed in the last 5yrs, that jacket should be good. I can't wear leather as it's way too hot for me, so I have a HD 2 in 1 coat that has a shell I can unzip to make it into a mesh coat. It has all the reinforcements in the right places and that's what I wore for my course and test. There was one guy that had a "coat" that was just a zip-up HD hoodie and they warned him that it was not appropriate for the course, but they still allowed him to take the course because he was from out of town and it was one of those grey area coat/not coat (if you understand what I mean).  
Boots, gloves and DOT approved helmet are a must too for the course.
