Hi, I’m asking here because I’m not sure who may have answers or if anyone here has experience with this!  
I’m moving to Ontario in the fall- I currently get my pres:cription refilled every 2 months at my local pharmacy. To get my pres:cription renewed i usually use QDOC.  
My question is, when I move to Ontario, am I still able to access my pres:criptions for free using my MB healthcard? I am only in Ontario for a year, so I won’t be getting an Ontario health card.  
 
Please share your advice, thoughts, knowledge, or a provider/business who could answer my question!

Call Manitoba Health directly or call you local MLA. Check with your pharmacy.

My cousin went to University in Ontario and had it filled at Shoppers here and while there went to Shoppers there. They checked with pharmacy here via phone call (had to pay LD charges ) but got meds.  
Also most pharmacy will give you 3 months worth through insurance provider.  
Talk to your pharmacist see if you can get 6 months snowbirds must get pres:criptions filled first longer periods.  
Can you have family member pick it up and send it out to you? That’s an option.

Will you be attending school in Ontario? If so, you will be covered for basic services with your Manitoba Health card. If you are going for any other reason, you will need to change to OHIP, as Manitoba Health will only provide coverage for 90 days.  
You will most likely not be able to fill your prescriptions for free in Ontario, if they are ones that are covered by the Manitoba Enhanced Pharmacare program (ie- diabetic meds, birth control, etc). It is a provincial program, and Ontario pharmacies will not have access to it.  
As for snow birds, they will often pay out of pocket for medications for longer periods. Benefit plans or pharmacare will only cover 3 months at a time. Also, not all medications can be dispensed for longer periods of time (ie- benzodiazapines, narcotics, controlled substances, z drugs, etc).

Depending on reason you can coverage up to a year with school or employment if you apply online and provide documentation.
