Just curious as to what "Road Closed - Local Traffic Only" means to you?

Only years ago when I didnt know what it meant, to me it means that there is no regular through traffic, only local traffic that will park right there.

Yet I have seen hundreds of vehicles over the last week disregard the large, obvious sign and drive on through only to practice their U-turn skills and head back to where they started from.

Don't get me started on taxi drivers in this city. On at least a dozen occasions I have seen them do U-turns at 18th and Victoria and 18th and Richmond alone. Not signaling, not stopping at stop signs, driving the wrong way on one-way streets, texting while driving. This is what happens when there is no traffic enforcement in a city of over 60,000.

If the context to this thread is 13th to Aberdeen, I admit to driving past it without really paying attention a couple times. My normal route to Canadian Tire/Tims was 1st to Aberdeen, then all the way to the Aberdeen entrance . . . until that become unpredictable. So I adjusted to 13th. Now, I guess ill just use Richmond until fall.  
 
Stupid . . . possibly. I call it more being in auto pilot mode lol.  
 
At least I know now to avoid the area. Hopefully Aberdeen will get some much needed repair. They did the good part behind Canadian Tire last year lol.

A pet peeve of mine are delivery drivers stopping in the right lane on first street to make a delivery (whatever it may be). Often times to homes with a drive way.  
 
If I ever come upon such a situation again and i'm not in a hurry (ie. off to work or something), i'm tempted to stop behind and lay on the horn.  
 
Back allys exist for a reason.

Not all taxi drivera are "stupid" I know of quite a few that drive safely and within the law. Delivery drivers may be ticking you off, but is it really worth the effort to go out of one's way to completely "Karen out". I think not. Maybe everyone needs to take a chill pill, considering that, in my experience living in various cities from coast to coast, Brandon has some of the worst drivers out there, second only to Guelph, ON. Look at your own driving and ask yourself if you are always doing everything by the book. The answer is probably that you're not.

I can assure you that without a doubt I am always doing everything right from shoulder-checking, to waiting three seconds at a stop sign to turning into the correct lane, using my turning signal, etc, etc. I believe driving is a privilege and not a right. I also believe that many people in this city need to lose that privilege.  
 
To be clear, voicing concerns over reckless, thoughtless and dangerous drivers is not a display of toxicity. We have every right to express concern. I just love how some people run around telling responsible people to take a "chill pill" as opposed to giving the topic actual consideration. You state Brandon has terrible drivers but that we just shouldn't care.  
 
Karen's tend to show extreme irrational behaviour often tinged with racism and often stemming from mental illness. No one has "Karen out" ed in this thread. Perhaps my next thread topic will be using words and phrases out of context or understanding of meaning.

Karens/Kens are also known for their lack of self-awareness.

So why do you have to be rude and insulting?

To the poster, I am very self aware in my ability to drive correctly and follow traffic laws. Not a sign of a Karen, merely a statement of fact.

Its frustrating how some people drive

If you were actually a stickler for following traffic rules then you would know that you must come to a complete stop at a stop sign, it's not for 1 second, or 5 seconds, or even 3 seconds...just a complete stop...now stop holding up traffic while you count to 3 at the next stop sign!

OMG someone in front of you stopped at a stop sign for 3 seconds. So lets see, stop at the stop sign, look left look right and then look left again =3 seconds.  
Did you ever think that you might be what a lot of these people are talking about in this thread. Yes everyone thinks they are good drivers but based on what? Never got a ticket, never had an accident, that doesn't make a good driver.  
PrimeConvoy, you might be that next driver that stops at that stop sign (or a California stop) for .5 of a second and then pulls out hitting the pedestrian that you didn't see.

I guess I struck a nerve with that one, huh?  
 
I take it back, go ahead, and spend as much time at a stop sign that you want.  
 
But again, nowhere in the driver's handbook does it state how much time you are required to be stopped.

This is why i've mostly adopted the advice of a friend of mine which is don't worry what is going on behind you. Around here, a good chunk of that time involves not letting people on my rear bother me if I am going the speed limit. Be it 50, 60, 70, or the 100 bit as you approach town on the #1. I don't care if you are in a rush to the next light or stop sign.  
 
The city and/or province could make a small fortune to put towards the cities infrastructure repair budget just by enacting speed cameras around town and in the outskirts. We might not even need any more tax increases!

They could simply employ traffic officers if cameras are too much for them.  
 
Yeah, no one said anything about the driver's manual. Three seconds is commonly referred to as that is how long it takes to visually sweep the intersection.  
 
Again, who is ranting? I have noticed a troll or two though.

Just a couple of friends "expressing concerns" over u-turns, taxi drivers, lack of turn signals, one-way streets, closed roads and local traffic, Karens, racism and mental health issues.  
 
I am just glad there is someone like you on the internet to educate us and change our minds.
