I am wondering how children at Waverly School (https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/man) It is very disturbing when Brandon School division refuses to actuals deal with situations, in this instance there were teacher chaperones and principle of school on bus at time of instance. I feel when this was brought to there attention that day and nothing was done at that time due to one of the perpetrators being a child of principle who is on bus to see that nobodies child be traumatized with any type of abuse. As a taxpayer and parent we should all be outraged and demand action be taken with regards with people who were on bus for not doing job they were there to do. It is not a fix to add more EA assistants in school as this did not need to happen if chaperones actually did the job paid to do rather than all sitting at front of the bus oblivious to problems at rear. My heart goes out to this young man and family as I do know how society will play off as kids being kids, and no torturing anyone with human feces is not ok this shows some very serious behavior that is NOT acceptable. Please support petition demanding action below

If the teachers sit at the back of the bus they face questions as to why they’re hanging out with the kids. If they sit at the front, they’re negligent. No way to win.  
This was a disgusting act by people who are old enough to know better. Doesn’t matter who the parents are, the chaperones did their best.  
When will people learn that not all children are dear little angels. Some look for every opportunity to cause trouble and no supervision is adequate to catch them.

Just give them a pass on their behaviour? Boys will be boys? Not a chance! They need to have them held accountable for their actions!

Let's all agree that what happened was disgusting and down right embarrassing. We most likely will never hear 1st hand the consequences of the kids who were involved with this horrid act.  
 
All teachers, EA's and volunteers have taken courses eg, Respect of Schools and recently a barrier accessibility course as mandated by the province. Volunteers are giving up time taking these courses, They especially volunteers are really heavily vetted. There is no room for stuff to happen.  
 
What could be done differently? Teachers, EA's, volunteers are seated all over the bus with another adult. Putting the 'training' into practice is the solution obviously comes to mind. Was there any 'chatter' of the guilty students were going to do something? We may never get the answer to this.  
 
Outside of work, I am a volunteer somewhere and had zero problems with kids or seen anything remotely resembling what happened..

Hey they spoke to the parents following the investigation so I guess they feel they have done their due diligence. What a farce. People are so quick to claim to pay the salaries of the police yet no one realizes these fools are public servants who need to be held accountable or else off you go the private sector.  
 
Personally, I would like to see the offenders as well as their parents charged with assault. Let go of your pearls grannies, yes, more and more we are seeing parents being charged for the actions of their children. Who is raising them to behave this way? And before you get all hot and bothered as everyone feels they are Parent of the Year, just remember, experts the world over are all saying the same thing. Parents as a whole have failed in the raising of their children over the past few decades and society is suffering the consequences.  
 
As far as the so called chaperones...fire them, and do not allow them back to any situation where supervision is required as they have shown the task is too difficult to accomplish.

Accountability in situations like this need to start with the student and then the parents. The public is blind to the situations that take place in classrooms these days all the way from Grade 1 through 12. Teachers hands are tied by the school system and the lack of support from parents who think there kids do no wrong or from parents that don't actually parent. What children are getting away with daily in school these days would make your cringe. In my day you would be sent to the principles office for the strap and this would be followed by the fear of your parents having to leave work to come pick you up. Society has become way to soft and it is going to end badly for everyone not just the offenders. When actions have no consequences what is the deterrent?

Not a victim. Just goes to show how quickly people are willing to take up pitchforks and form a lynch mob. Knowing the full story is key folks!

Are you saying the boy bullied is not a victim? Did anyone else get their head shoved in a dirty toilet? Even if the bullied boy said or did something unkind (which I don't know), how does he deserve that type of treatment? Do 2 wrongs make a right?  
Parents are not going to stand for this anymore and if schools aren't going to step it up, parents are going to be dealing with police a lot more this coming school year. If parents don't seem to care, then I think the child and themselves should be penalized for the children's bullying behavior.

Am curious what incite you have on this particular story as to your comments we all would like to have all accurate verifiable information so we can make informed decisions?
