Instead of reducing our hydro bills they waste money in Efficiency Manitoba Home Energy Reports.  
 
Which are useless and waste of money.  
 
Added to the money wasted on the whole program they actually print out and mail out these reports.  
 
Stop wasting money and reduce our bills.

do you know how much hydro costs in other provinces or states?

I suppose you could just have your bills changed to electronic only, then you would get it via email and your reports would be in email form as well. Should save everyone a lot of money.

as always people become frustrated with cost of many things in our worlds today, I would encourage you to look at actual rates we pay then make an informed comment.  
Manitoba is actually number 2 behind Quebec for the lowest rates in North America not just Canada. todays rates in Quebec are 7.8-8-3 kilowatt hr. Manitoba rate is 9-10.6 closest in US is Seattle at 13.2. As for the reports if you still get them on paper as previous poster these can be sent in emails eliminating paper waste. These reports also if you read them they prove how Hydro is saving us and you as a taxpayer have asked for. As to the validity of power smart program I know for a fact if advised work is done it will save you. I state these facts with personnel knowledge having spent many years generating date and actually working in power smart program. Another place to save with growing rates is part of water stewardship as all water billing is tied to your rate of water usage then doubled for billing as sewage portion hence find ways to limit or less turning taps to let water run and you save double. We all feel your pain but Hydro is not one that controls usage it is you the consumer hence be smart in usage in how many lights you leave on, heat loss in home and water usage. I have personally done reports that proved home owner achieved a 27% reduction of bills. If anyone cares to fact check my statements read these so called wasted reports. Enjoy your day everyone!

Second lowest rates, in Canada, after Quebec.

Not to mention overall $25.3-billion debt. Rates will continue to climb obviously just to service the interest.

Manitoba exports 13% of what we generate at a higher rate to customers outside of province and plays a big part of servicing debt. For example smallest debt in order, least to largest, Nova Scotia 4.1 billion, NB 5.9 billion, Newfoundland 11.3 billion, Sask. 11.5 billion, Ontario 13.6 billion, BC 20 billion, Man. 25.3 billion, Quebec 65.6 billion. Alberta is a wild card as power is not owned by province yet pay some of the highest rates in Canada. If facts are all inputted including past government's fees (from past surplus's) Historically, these fees have funneled $400 million to $500 million annually straight out of Manitoba Hydro and into provincial revenues to balance general expenditures. I have found again numbers can sound very unsettling if no context is provided.

I got mine changed to text message and yet am still getting paper bills. I’ve tried to contact twice no change so I gave up and just throw out the paper bill without opening it now.

I do everything electronically and e-mail.  
 
but getting and wasting money on Efficiency Manitoba is the issue.  
 
Why should my hydro usage be in this paper copy? And certainly don't want them sending by email.  
 
I see their advertisements as well now.  
 
this is a waste of money and increases are landfills as 99% of this crap goes right into garbage.

I apologize if facts don't support you views, so I would like to see your supporting fact that show how program is a waste of taxpayers dollars? I look forward to seeing solid facts before I comment.

I think rates and peak hours of use will be the next steps in MB Hydro plan to increase rates in MB.  
Just like how they do in Ontario. Peak hours means more cost vs non peak hours.  
 
Is it me or Manitoba starting to be less afforable?
