i dont see anything on here yet? there is a bull moose and a cow at the school. streets are blocked off. the early program may not happen this morning... its true saw them about an hour ago myself!

There are two moose in the JR Reid school yard. Police are present and you cannot drive North on 26th st (After Park Ave) or East on Park Ave (aftr 26 th street) My husband saw them on his way to work this morning. Wild!!

Brandon Sun just posted about them. Says they are just babies, not a bull and cow (those are a LOT larger!)  
 
People, if you can, stay away from the area, no going to check it out. Poor moose are probably spooked as it is, not need to scare them more.

They have been tranquilized and everything will be back to normal before 8am.

Wonder were they came from..... jr Reid's almost in the middle of the city and there's moose droppings on Brandon ave near meadows school.

Quite the unique situation. Police are detouring all Northbound traffic. One has given in to tranquilizing and has been loaded into a trailer, another still running around. Posting a pic from my phone

Second one has now given in. Will post a few more pics and a brief video from camera shortly.

that first photo just shows you how dangerous the job can be for the BPS! Kudos to them, good job on the photos Adam, and we'll have something to joke about today!

moose can be dangerous and i'm glad they got the critters under control and removed safely

I actually watched them this morning (I live right behind the school).  
Silly moose, it's too late to join the school year!

Haha, so random! Poor guys were probably so scared.

It is obvious from the pictures that the Brandon Sun are incorrect-these  
are yearling moose...not babies!! Moose have become increasingly common in southern Manitoba these last few years..these guys were probably chased away by their mother who has a new calf or calves and followed some green space into the city. If you don't want them send them up here to the  
swan Valley--we are experiencing a shortage presently due to several factors..the least of which is over hunting by the native population.

They follow the river and come up from there. This isn't the first time moose have come into town.

At 3:39 AM this morning, Police on patrol located a pair of moose wandering around the Elviss Crescent area. The animals eventually went into the playground at J.R. Reid School, where efforts were made to contain them inside the fenced playground. Police, Animal Control Officers and Conservation Officers joined forces and were eventually able to tranquilize the animals and move them safely out of the city.

not trying to take away from your moose story ,but last week we had a bear in killarney and a few days before that the bear was around our farm 6 miles south. 29

On Monday morning our 6 yr old started yelling Mom Mom MOOOOM there is a bear outside, sure enough we had a visitor just after 8:00am

great pictures Adam. Definitely not full grown by a long shot....lol Used to see them in Turtle mountain a lot....never thought to see one in Brandon.  
They can be dangerous no matter the size. Never approach a moose ..no matter how small. and...yup.. would rather see a moose than a bear !

About 25 years ago the experimental farms had a young moose stay with the cattle they had on the north hill. I believe that from what I was told by an older person that it was common from moose from Clear lake to migrate to Carberry area, just what I remember!
