The reason is that both provincial and federal governments are broke and can't figure out how they will pay for it.
It is interesting how the bridge has been talked about for years and no commitment from anyone. That is with the except of our past mayor willing to throw the cities money at a bridge that the city didn't have any ownership of. The timing is very interesting.
It is a good thing to announce now as who ever is elected in will have to pay for it someway. 60 million dollars is a lot of tax money to raise. Nice to have but costly!
