Does anyone know what is going on beside the church at Baecrest and 18th? They are digging and so on with work.

think those that purchased in those other developments on the south side cared about ruining the view for the others on the north side. And the church already ruined much of the view already.

If the view really matters to you. Then move elsewhere.

Ohh.. by the way.. they cut the trees down at Shoppers Mall..maybe complain about that too daisychain???

North Hill Inn used to also have a great view of the city, hence the glassed restaurant. Then the Daley, Sifton development was built. And now they only have the view of the homes backyard fence.

settle down, just a comment. Where do you get that I am complaining?? It doesn't affect me one way or the other, and where I live I have a gorgeous, unobstructed view of our lovely city, so no complaints from me.

A lot of good info at the Sun article at the link below (no paywall as of now). From it I get that there will be:
- an 18-suite "life-lease" apartment building
- 18 row-houses
- another life-lease apartment building

Sounds like some unique stuff being done for the location, with walkouts and garage-top patios....

The biggest problem, as per Adam's BSun linked article, is the Braecrest/18th intersection. It's already bad, and with the extra traffic will be worse.

That corner needs to be closed and Braecrest Drive connected to the East service road at the old garden center.

For those who say put in traffic lights, MIT has already said no because the grade of 18th street would make it hazardous.

I will take a hopeful optomistic stance that development equals investment and local confidence. If there's a rational development need that meets development standards and provides economic opportunities then it should be encouraged.

I am more concerned about how the city is planning on managing the extra traffic this development will generate. As it is the intersection at 18th and Braecrest is a death trap. How will it be managed now?

For sure it will work better than the current system!! I've sat at that intersection a long time waiting for a break in traffic from both directions to turn left and go down the hill!!

Even better is to take part in the public consultation process before the developments are approved. Then your opinions can really count.
