Public Works Sanitation Driver
Full-Time, Permanent Position
Position Summary
is seeking a reliable and motivated Public Works Sanitation Driver to provide sanitation services throughout the community. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting and transporting garbage for disposal at approved landfill sites, ensuring waste is disposed of safely and properly. The Sanitation Driver will help maintain a clean and healthy community by ensuring garbage collection areas and natural spaces remain free of debris.
Position Duties
- Work independently while effectively managing time and productivity.
- Complete daily vehicle inspections (pre-trip and post-trip) and determine required maintenance.
- Follow safe driving practices and applicable traffic regulations.
- Inspect and maintain hoses, fittings, and associated equipment.
- Complete daily reports and required documentation.
- Handle hazardous materials safely and follow proper waste disposal procedures.
- Be available to work evenings and weekends as required.
- Perform heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks.
- Manage routes and schedules efficiently.
- Ensure sanitation trucks are clean, well-maintained, and professional in appearance at all times.
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance duties.
- Assist with other Public Works responsibilities as assigned.
- Perform other duties related to sanitation services as required.
Qualifications
- Valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver's License required.
- Class 3A Driver's License is considered an asset.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
- Willingness to participate in training opportunities.
- Physically capable of lifting, carrying, and pushing heavy objects.
- Carpentry skills to repair and construct garbage bins.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to drive safely in varying road and weather conditions.
- Knowledge of basic truck maintenance.
- Must be willing to upgrade to a Class 3A License or higher.
