The Province released its first spring flood outlook today and though Souris and Assiniboine flows are forecast to be high its expected that both will at their peak come in “below protection levels” based on most current data. In the full forecast, which can be read at the link below, its said that flooding of some farmland and low lying areas can be expected.
The story appears to be different for points further East, where early data points to high probability of major spring flooding in the Red River Valley.
There is some uncertainty going forward as it relates to temperatures during March and the timing of the spring melt, factors that it’s said will be reflected in further forecasts as data is available.
