It's Brier time!

Posted by Adam in Local Sports, 3/1/2019

The wait is all but over, the best in Canadian men’s curling are in Brandon and between now and March 10 will go head-to-head at the 2019 Tim Horton's Brier to determine our national men's champs.

Officially the opening ceremonies will take place at 12:30pm on Saturday. They will be followed by the first draw of the round robin portion of the event at 2pm on Saturday. A ticket to that first draw also gets you admission to the opening ceremonies.

Before that a wild card game will be played tonight at Westoba Place at 7pm to determine the 16th team to participate in the Brier itself. That wild card game is free to attend with no ticket required and would seem like a great chance for the curling-curious to get a taste of what’s to come this week. Donations tonight will be accepted at the door to the Curling Canada Foundation in support of junior curling.

The official event page with info on match results, tickets and visitor info is at https://www.curling.ca/2019brier/

You may have noticed the big TV trucks on site at the Keystone as part of TSN’s coverage of every draw. You can find their full broadcast schedule at this link.

The winner of March 10’s championship final will represent Canada at the Men’s World Curling Championship in Lethbridge starting March 30.

Folks took to an eBrandon discussion to share their excitement. You can read that reaction and share your own using the attached discussion thread link. On Twitter the hash tag to follow is #Brier2019
