For the second time in the history of the Bobcat volleyball program, the men’s team has captured the Canada West conference championship after a thrilling five set win over the three time defending champion Trinity Western Spartans.
Local reaction was a plenty to the home side coming out on top in their first time hosting the conference finals in front of a sellout crowd at the BU Healthy Living Centre:

Both the Bobcats and Spartans are now off to the U Sports National Championships in Laval, Quebec this coming weekend. Brandon will be attempting to become the first BU team to win a national title in 17 years, with that last title ironically being won by Mike McEwen’s curling rink (McEwen has been participating in this week’s Brier in Brandon). Brandon entered Friday’s matchup as the top-ranked team in the country. Final rankings heading into the tournament are expected to come out after other conference championships are decided this weekend, after which time we'll know who the Bobcats will matchup with first on Friday.
