Update: Severe t-storm watch passes without event in Brandon

Posted by Adam in Local Weather, 7/31/2019

Updated: July 31, 9:45pm.

Environment Canada has ended a severe thunderstorm watch that had been in place for Brandon since mid-afternoon on Wednesday.

Forecasters had pointed toward a setup that could lead to severe storms forming to the West and progressing in the Wheat City’s direction. Because of that a watch had been issued by Environment Canada as an alert to be aware for the potential for severe thunderstorms. As it turned out, the most severe weather North of the Canada-US border formed East of the city as folks took in a hot and muggy night.

Hot and muggy is as of now forecast to further be the trend into the weekend with highs of 32, 31 and 30 predicted for Thursday, Friday and Saturday before a bit of relief on Sunday into next week with highs in the mid-20s.

As of the time of this posting some severe weather potential did exist elsewhere in Manitoba. For that info please check out https://weather.gc.ca/warnings/index_e.html?prov=mb
