Brandon’s Joel Edmundson has been awarded a one year deal by an arbitrator, setting the stage for a return to the St. Louis in the upcoming 2019-2020 season as the team defends it’s June Stanley Cup championship.
The award is said to be for $3.1M, slightly more than the $3 million one year contract of last season and markedly higher than the $1.05M of the season prior to that. Edmundson’s was one of 41 arbitration cases filed during the off-season and one of six ruled on by an arbitrator.
The 27-year old notched 2 goals and 11 points last season and followed it up with a goal and 7 points in 22 games in helping the Blues to their first Stanley Cup championship. More recently the former AAA Wheat King had his customary day with the Stanley Cup last month which included a public viewing party that saw the day shared with droves of local folks.
The Blues will play their first pre-season game on September 16 after the shortest off-season in club history. After an exhibition schedule that will include a September 20 stop in Winnipeg they will raise their championship banner at October 2nd’s regular season home opener.
