Frost advisory Saturday AM for Southern Manitoba including Brandon

Posted by Adam in Local Weather, 9/27/2019

Environment Canada this afternoon has issued an Frost Advisory for a large portion of Manitoba that includes Brandon and essentially all of the traditional eBrandon usage area.

As of the time of this post the hourly forecast for Brandon calls for temps to dip below freezing by the 3am hour early Saturday morning, dropping as low as minus 3 by the 5am hour before climbing back above freezing by the 9am hour.

If all plays out as forecast it would represent the coldest temp in the city since mid-May. A dip ever-so-slightly below freezing did take place on September 8 with an early morning low in Brandon of -0.6 and then reached a touch below the mark again this morning at -0.8.

Environment Canada says that frost advisories are issued during growing season when temperatures are expected to reach the potentially crop-damaging freezing mark.

The good news is a snowstorm forecast for Southern Saskatchewan and Alberta is not expected to bring white stuff to this immediate area with temps over the rest of the weekend expected to stay above freezing and upcoming precipitation falling as rain. For those that could still use a little something extra in their "it could be worse" file, the lowest temp on record for September 28 would be -8.3... a record 1942 is more than welcome to hold onto as long as it would like :)
