Office Assistant / Junior Estimator
K&J Construction Ltd. is a family-run construction company specializing in Commercial, Multi-family Residential and Agricultural building projects.
Responsibilities:
? Read and interpret plans, drawings, and specifications
? Complete accurate quantity take-offs for materials
? Assist with preparing estimates and proposals
? Prepare purchase orders and obtain pricing from suppliers and subcontractors
? Maintain organized project files and documentation
? Identify material requirements based on blueprints and project details
? Assist with inventory management
? Review project documents to identify discrepancies or missing information
? Communicate with suppliers, subcontractors, and city officials as needed
? Support general office duties including emails, filing, printing, and tracking documentation
Qualifications:
? 2+ years of experience with construction estimating or blueprint reading
? Strong understanding of the Manitoba Building Code
? Experience working with city officials, permitting departments, and securing building permits
? Ability to complete accurate material take-offs
? Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
