2026 - Advancement Officer - FT Term
Applications are invited for an Advancement Officer to join the Department of Advancement & Alumni Affairs for a full-time, one-year term. We are looking for someone who can support the development and implementation of a wide range of engagement strategies through alumni and donor relations.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Advancement Officer is responsible for donor and alumni events; donor stewardship; alumni awards; volunteer management; and supporting the Advancement team in fundraising strategies and donor relations. The successful candidate will manage and support the Alumni Association Board and its related activities while building and maintaining strong, strategic relationships across campus and within the broader community.
Key duties include delivering a focused engagement plan aligned with the University's Strategic Plan; coordinating alumni events locally and across Canada, including the annual Homecoming Weekend and class reunions; managing and coordinating the BU Alumni Association meetings and activities; and recruiting volunteers for events and committees. Building meaningful relationships with alumni and donors, along with cultivating and stewarding these relationships are central to the success of this role.
Qualifications
To be considered, candidates must have a two-year diploma in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field, along with a minimum of three years' experience in a similar role; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; well-developed organizational and time-management abilities; and keen attention to detail. Experience in alumni relations, advancement, fundraising, communications, or event planning, preferably in a post-secondary, non-profit, or community-focused environment, is preferred. The ability to build and maintain meaningful relationships with alumni, donors, volunteers, colleagues, and community partners, work collaboratively across campus, and thrive in a dynamic environment with occasional evening or weekend commitments is essential.
Salary: Managers & Professional Officers MPO -IV, $84,229.00
