About the Role
Quarry Hills Excavation & Gravel Ltd. is one of Westman?s fastest growing commercial heavy equipment contractors, specializing in gravel, sewer & waterworks, and earthworks. We are seeking skilled Heavy Duty and Automotive Mechanics to join our team in Brandon, MB.
This role is ideal for individuals with experience working on a mix of heavy equipment, diesel engines, and on-road vehicles. We welcome applicants from heavy duty, automotive, truck and transport, and agricultural backgrounds who are comfortable diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of equipment and vehicles.
Requirements
- Applicable qualification/background (heavy duty, truck and transport, or equivalent) with at least 2 years? relevant experience
- A Red Seal qualification is considered an asset
- Farm or agricultural mechanics are also encouraged to apply
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and heavy equipment systems
- Experience working with heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, and/or automotive vehicles
- Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills across both heavy duty and automotive systems
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Valid Class 5 Driver?s License required (Class 3 is considered an asset)
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, and company vehicles including oil changes, fluid services, and inspections
- Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on diesel and gas engines, hydraulic systems, braking systems, and electrical components
- Conduct safety inspections and preventative maintenance checks on both heavy equipment and automotive fleet vehicles
- Troubleshoot equipment and vehicle issues to minimize downtime and maintain efficient operations
- Repair or replace worn or damaged parts across a variety of equipment and vehicles
- Maintain accurate service records and report major repair needs to management
- Assist with maintaining shop organization and cleanliness
- Prepare and inspect equipment and vehicles prior to deployment to job sites
- Coordinate parts ordering and parts pick-up when required
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company safety policies and procedures
