Housing Support Facilitator
The Brandon Friendship Centre Youth Safe Lodge is accepting applications for a full-time Housing Support Facilitator with the Youth Safe Lodge Project!

The Housing Support Facilitator assists the transition of youth involved in the BFC Safe Lodge program to independent living in the community. The Housing Facilitator is responsible for the delivery of a range of access and support services for youth in order to assist youth in obtaining appropriate long term housing and assist clients with household move-in and set up. The Housing Facilitator will be expected to practice within a framework that is a strengths-based relationship-based philosophy of care and a belief in the resilience of youth.
? Duties and Responsibilities
? Provide pre-housing support to youth, including securing income/ID, exploring housing options, and attending viewings or intakes. Work closely with case managers and staff to help youth find permanent housing. (30%)
? Support residents with life skills, focusing on housing, finances, and access to services and resources. (15%)
? Build and maintain relationships with landlords and property managers to secure ongoing housing options. (20%)
? Coordinate with internal teams to support smooth transitions to independent living and arrange follow-up supports where available. (15%)
? Maintain accurate client records in line with HIFIS and professional standards, including case notes, reports, and safety documentation. Ensure all entries are completed each shift. (10%)
? Participate in supervision, team meetings, case conferences, training, and organizational initiatives.
? Represent the organization professionally with clients, partners, and the public. (5%)
? Foster an inclusive, respectful environment that values diversity.
? Follow all health and safety policies and practices to protect staff and clients. (5%)
? Adhere strictly to FIPPA and PIPEDA requirements.
Qualifications
? Preference given to those with lived experience.
? Preferred Undergraduate Degree in Social Work, Social Service diploma or a combination of directly related education and experience.

? Preferred Minimum of 2 years? experience, preferably in a residential, housing, outreach, or shelter setting
? Proven ability to provide housing related support and knowledge of housing resources in the City of Brandon.
? Valid First Aid / CPR certification
? Demonstrates a commitment to inclusiveness.
? Demonstrated leadership skills.
? Knowledge of adolescent developmental theory and specific issues related to street youth
? Understanding of the complex issues facing our clients
? Appreciation of the importance of engaging youth and families from a strengths based relationship-based approach
? Knowledge of transitional and other housing systems in Brandon
? Sensitivity to and ability to work with a diverse client and staff group.
? Adherence to PIPDA and FIPA legislation
? The successful incumbent must maintain a class IV driver?s license.
? Must provide up-to-date clear criminal record check and child abuse registry check.
? Preference given to Indigenous candidates with post-secondary education accompanied by demonstrated soft skills.
? Applicants are encouraged to highlight their Indigenous cultural background, and knowledge of Indigenous ways/skills on their application: Indigenous languages, cultural knowledge, knowledge of tribe stories, land-based skills, traditional foods, Indigenous crafts, et all. As well as experience and perspectives relating Indigenous ways of knowing/living to modern urban realities.

Applicants should be prepared to articulate knowledge and understanding of Indigenous populations, the impact of colonization on Canada?s Indigenous peoples, the historical and continuing impact of the residential school system and other forms of genocide, and traditional Indigenous healing and wellness beliefs and practices.
