Day-shift Residential Support Worker ? Term Position ? Start date beginning of April
Location: Minnedosa
Setting: Private in-home support
We are seeking a reliable and compassionate Support Worker to assist a visually impaired, Type 1 diabetic, independent adult- in his home - for full-time day shifts starting April 2026 for 6 weeks or to be determined
Key Responsibilities
- Respect the individual?s rights, independence, and choices within their home.
- Provide accurate, legible documentation: shift logs, incident reports, and assigned record-keeping.
- Make and keep appointments when needed
- Take client to appointments, grocery shop, etc.
- Light cooking ? lunch and snacks
- Monitor, record, and administer insulin when required (training will be provided).
- Complete assigned household tasks and maintain sanitary practices.
- Participate in and encourage engagement in community or personal activities.
- Communicate effectively with the participant, co-workers, and family members.
- Attend team meetings and required training.
- Handle and reconcile house floats and participant funds with proper receipts.
- Contribute to a positive, respectful team environment.
- Follow confidentiality and respectful workplace policies.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma (post-secondary in a related field an asset).
- First Aid & CPR Certification.
- Class 5 Driver?s Licence.
- Adult & Child Abuse Registry checks.
- Vulnerable Sector & Criminal Record checks.
- Knowledge of diabetes and insulin administration an asset (training provided).
- Understanding of ALIDA (Adults Living with an Intellectual Disability Act) an asset.
- Previous caregiving or disability support experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and follow care plans accurately.
- Compassionate, patient, and dependable.
