What you'll do: Reporting to the Food Store Manager, the Pharmacist is responsible for providing safe, ethical, and patient-centred pharmacy services to customers and members of Heritage Co-op. This role ensures the accurate dispensing of medications, offers clinical and wellness advice to members and customers, and supports the financial and operational success of the pharmacy while upholding Co-op's values of care, community, and accountability. This includes providing support to the Pharmacy Team to ensure safe, effective operations and processes that align with the Values, Vision, Mission, and Brand of Heritage Co-op.

 

We will consider applicants who are interested in full-time or part-time opportunities.

 

Key Job Responsibilities include:

-       Dispense prescription medications accurately and in accordance with legislative and professional standards

-       Provide medication counselling, clinical advice, and health education to patients

-       Conduct medication reviews, renewals, and vaccinations (where authorized)

-       Assess prescriptions for appropriateness, interactions, and contraindications

-       Collaborate with prescribers and other healthcare professionals to support patient outcomes

-       Monitor inventory levels, expiry dates, and drug shortages

-       Assist with ordering, receiving, and inventory controls

-       Deliver respectful, inclusive, and member-focused service

-       Promote wellness, preventative care, and safe medication use

-       Maintain compliance with provincial pharmacy legislation, standards of practice, and ethical guidelines

-       Ensure proper handling, storage, and documentation of medications, including controlled substances

-       Maintain accurate patient records and safeguard confidentiality

-       Participate in audits, inspections, and quality assurance activities

 

Education, Experience, and Other Requirements:

-       Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BScPharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)

-       Active licensure in good standing with the applicable provincial regulatory authority

-       Strong knowledge of pharmacy practice standards and legislation

-       Strong clinical judgement and attention to detail

-       Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

-       Ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care

-       Time management and ability to work in a fast-paced environment

-       Commitment to confidentiality, ethics, and professional integrity

-       Ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare and retail setting

-       Injection certification and current licensure and good standing with College of Manitoba Pharmacists
