Job Summary
The Roofing Laborer works under the direction of a Supervisor to repair, replace, and install new roofing. The Laborer works as a member of the roofing crew to complete the scope of work required for each roofing project, in accordance with our COR? Certified Safety Program, customer service, quality, building code, schedule, and budget requirements.
Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Packing out all roofing materials, tools, and equipment to be delivered to each job site; and unloading these items at the job site
- On site, conduct a pre-work assessment of the roof, work area, team members, materials, equipment, and tools; to ensure all resources required to complete the job are on site.
- Assist in site set up
- Assist in striping the roof and clean the roof deck as a team
- Complete any deck repair, with assistance as needed
- Install roof vents, plumbing stacks, and flashings, as needed
- Install roof edge and drip edge
- Install underlayment as required
- Under the direction of the Supervisor, fasten shingles ensuring they are properly trimmed to tightly fit along the edges of a roof. Ensure that their materials are properly installed at valleys and ridges; and around chimneys, vents, gutters, gable walls, and other intersecting surfaces.
- Assist in site clean up
- Complete a final walkaround on the ground
- Assist in dumping debris at local landfill facility
- Clean out and dispose of any debris in the work truck and trailer
- Return all unused roofing materials, tools, and equipment to D.T. Roofing and organize them in the yard and shop to be made ready for next use
- Complete Shop Task Lists to maintain a clean and organized shop and yard
Requirements:
? Previous experience as a shingler or in a similar roofing position
? Knowledge of different types of shingles and their installation techniques
? Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions
? Strong attention to detail and accuracy in measuring and cutting shingles
? Physical stamina to lift heavy materials and work on roofs for extended periods of time
? Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot roofing issues
