Resource Centre Warehouse Assistant
Samaritan House Ministries Inc. is accepting applications for a Warehouse Assistant to join our team at the Food Bank and Resource Centre. The primary responsibility is to support the Food Bank in the receiving of donations, weighing, and sorting food items. The approach is collaborative and often requires assisting colleagues with other duties as needed. Flexibility is crucial. This position is 4 days per week, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 8:00am - 4:00pm.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Help unload trucks of donations and deliveries
- Driver relief for holidays and sick time
- Sort bread, pastries, and produce for the day
- Maintain warehouse organization and cleanliness
- Move pallets from warehouse to hamper area
- Help organize cooler and freezer space
- Weigh, record, and sort donation bins
- Operate forklift and maintain inspection log
- Date and rotate stock in warehouse
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Valid Class 5 driver's license and clean driver's abstract is required
- Highschool diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. repetitively
- Problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Honest, dependable, and reliable
- Good time management and organizational skills
- Flexibility to adjust to changes as necessary
- Willing to take training as required
