Makers Space Coordinator

The Brandon Neighbourhood Renewal Corporation (BNRC) is looking for an energetic, hands-on Makers Space Coordinator to lead the continued growth of our community Makers Space while launching an exciting new Medical Equipment Restoration Social Enterprise.

This is an opportunity to combine creativity, entrepreneurship, skilled trades, community development, and social impact in one rewarding career.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the daily operations and growth of the BNRC Makers Space.
  • Grow Membership, develop workshops, programming, and community events.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot workshop equipment and technology.
  • Foster a strong culture of safety while training and mentoring members.
  • Build partnerships with schools, businesses, and community organizations.
  • Lead the development of a Medical Equipment Restoration Social Enterprise, including refurbishment, inventory, sales, and marketing.
  • Supervise staff, volunteers, students, and employment participants.

Abilities

  • Competency and expertise in building, creating, repairing, and problem solving.
  • Knowledgeable and comfortable learning and teaching new equipment and technologies.
  • Has experience with woodworking, fabrication, 3D printers, laser cutters, or similar equipment.
  • Has strong organizational, computer, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves?this role includes equipment maintenance, cleaning, and keeping the space running smoothly.
  • Ability to work one evening each week and one Saturday per month to support programming and community tours.

Qualifications

Post-secondary education in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience managing community programs, supervising staff or volunteers, and working in a makerspace, workshop, skilled trades, or social enterprise environment is considered an asset.

 

Renumeration

This is a full-time term position ending March 31, 2027, with the potential for extension based on continued funding availability. Compensation for this position is $28.00 to $32.00 per hour (37.5 hours per week), with the starting wage determined by the successful candidate's education, experience, and qualifications, in accordance with the terms of the applicable funding agreement. Benefits available after 3 months.
