We specialize in Civil Heavy Construction, Reclamation & Remediation, Vegetation Management, Lease and Well Pad Construction, Road Construction, Trucking Services, Railway Services and Demolition. The company has experienced growth year over year and is now looking to expand internal financial resources.
About the Role
With growth and expansion, Northrok is recruiting for a Finance Manager, which is a new position to the company. Northrok requires more expertise and experience within their Team to provide timely financial results, strategic vision, and future planning.
Our company serves the construction, rail, and hauling industries. This leadership role is ideal for a finance professional who enjoys partnering with operations, driving financial performance, and providing insights that support business growth.
The Finance Manager will oversee financial planning, budgeting, reporting, cash flow management, and financial analysis while working closely with leadership to support strategic decision-making across multiple business units.
Who You?ll Work With
This position reports directly to ownership and works hand-in-hand with the leadership team on a daily basis. You'll be in the room where decisions about equipment purchases, contract bids, and growth strategy get made, and your numbers will directly shape them. Northrok is still a young, fast-growing company, and this role is being created because the business has outgrown outsourced finance support. We're looking for someone who wants to help build the finance function from the ground up alongside the owners, not step into a fully formed department.
Key Responsibilities
? Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes
? Prepare budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial goals
? Analyze financial performance and provide actionable recommendations to improve profitability and operational efficiency
? Monitor cash flow, working capital, and capital expenditures.
? Partner with operations to evaluate project budgets, performance, equipment utilization, and cost control initiatives.
? Develop and maintain financial templates to support strategic business decisions.
? Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal controls
? Manage the annual Review Engagement and communicate with external accounting firm
? Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and reporting systems
? Provide support to the Office Manager and Administration Team
Qualifications
? Degree in Accounting, Finance, or other related field
? CPA designation or progress toward CPA is considered an asset
? 5+ years of progressive finance or accounting experience.
? Experience within the scope of the business is strongly preferred
? Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and business analysis
? Knowledge of tax related rules interprovincially (Manitoba, Saskatchewan, potentially others)
? Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks
? Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
? Ability to support decisions and collaborate effectively with operational leaders
? This role is working in the office (there may be an opportunity to work one day remotely per week depending on the needs of the business)
