Northrok Construction Ltd. is seeking an experienced, safety-driven Hi-Rail Hydrovac Operator to support railway and infrastructure projects throughout Western Canada. This position is ideal for a motivated individual who takes pride in operating specialized equipment safely and efficiently while working in a fast-paced environment.
As a Hi-Rail Hydrovac Operator, you will be responsible for operating hydrovac equipment on rail and road systems, performing non-destructive excavation, exposing underground utilities, and supporting railway maintenance and construction projects.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate Hi-Rail Hydrovac equipment in railway and construction environments.
- Perform daylighting, potholing, utility locating, and non-destructive excavation.
- Complete daily pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections.
- Maintain equipment cleanliness and perform routine maintenance checks.
- Follow all railway, provincial, and company safety regulations.
- Complete field documentation, safety reports, and work records accurately.
- Coordinate with supervisors, railway personnel, and project crews to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.
- Identify and mitigate workplace hazards.
- Travel to project sites throughout Western Canada as required.
- Participate in emergency and after-hours work when necessary.
Qualifications
Required
- Valid Class 1 or Class 3 Driver's Licence with Air Brake Endorsement.
- Clean driver's abstract.
- Previous hydrovac operating experience.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physically capable of performing duties in various weather conditions.
- Willingness to travel and work flexible schedules.
Preferred
- Previous Hi-Rail equipment experience.
- Railway industry experience.
- CROR and railway safety certifications.
- Ground Disturbance Level II certification.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Experience working around underground utilities and infrastructure.
