I was given a ticket for going 84 in a 50 zone! Do you think it’s worth it to fight it? (I was late to class)

How would you go about fighting it? I don't see any approach that would warrant an appeal. You were speeding, you got caught, now you pay for it, simple.

Your SOL! It would of been cheaper to be late than speeding.

Speeding in town? if so, how'd you get to 84KM/H with the amount of slow people driving in Brandon?

Sometimes there is no way to argue the point. Simply own up to it and pay the fine

I think you'll need a better reason than late for class.....

You were going waaaaay over the speed limit: you could have caused an accident: you could have hit a pedestrian, which at that speed would have killed them.... sorry, but you deserve that ticket.

Ok I’m going to try to be nice here. But I don’t think you really realize what you even did, so that alone no way. You were doing 34 over in the city… you could have killed someone, and now you want your fine reduced? You shouldn’t even have a license, I’d just be thankful you and everyone you drove past us still alive.

For the OP, I would like to hear how you would fight your ticket? What would your argument be, that you believe would justify a judge reducing or throwing out your ticket?

Seriously? Trying to fight it? Saying your late for class is your reason you were speeding, but in no way would that reason excuse your actions, your an adult, start acting and thinking like one. If you try to fight it I hope they realize they simply need to take your license away and you need defensive driving training. What’s your excuse next time your speeding? Going to be late for survivor? Like come on lol

If you already got the ticket its too late, all you can do is learn from it and no late for class isn't a valid excuse, short of a hospital emergency there is no real valid excuse for speeding.  
 
Ironically enough, I once got pulled over for going 84 in a 50 in the city a couple decades ago, back when that road behind canadian tire was still gravel, I was racing another guy to school.  
 
I was honest when asked by the officer my reason, admitted I was going at least 80 and I might have been crying a bit, but in my defense I was still on my driving probation period so I'm pretty sure a ticket would have meant instant loss of license.  
 
I was given a warning and it changed the way I drive to this day, hopefully you learn from it as well, granted you will be paying a much stiffer penalty to learn that lesson than I did, but it could have been much worse for both us had we hit someone.

I hope it was a hefty justifiable fine. You’ll only look like a fool if you try to fight it or get it reduced. Pay it and don’t do it again

I know what it feels like to be late and step on it a little - and get caught! If you are a student, it will be a lot to pay, but you were going just a little too fast to win over a judge to your side. Hope you can find the money - I am thinking it will be a pretty hefty fine.

You can fight it however you will not get very far and get a nice lecture from a judge. In the process, the police, media et al may pick this story up and you won't like it if they haven't already. Pay the fine, consider this a tough life lesson and move on.

If by fight you mean throw yourself on the mercy of court because you are a broke student and can’t lose your license. You might be successful in getting the fine lowered. If you are truly remorseful and won’t do it again it’s worth a shot. But to echo everyone else that is very excessive speed I the city. And I am a speeder. Some death rate stats for pedestrians vs cars. At 37kmh 10%. At 51 25%. At 80kmh 75%. Many cities are lowering side streets to 40. Think about that.

At that speed, you should lose your license for 6 months !
