Best company to go with for home insurance?

We go through CAA and haven't had any issues with them.

Curious to those listing companies. Why do you use who you mention along with if you made a claim how did it go?

We have been thrilled with Guild since we switched from "another" broker a while back.  
 
We had been getting very poor service (brokers refused to search for better rates with different companies - even though THAT IS THEIR JOB), run around with rates and paperwork, prices going up even though we had no claims, etc  
 
Switched to Guild and have been thrilled by the quick and thorough service, the pre emptive investigating for better rates, their hours of operation seem good among others.  
 
As for specific insurance companies - the best ones I have come across in my work are Portage Mutual, Red River seems OK. Wawanesa is not bad for paying out quickly - but seem very bad for rates hiking a lot and often - even with no claims.  
 
Unfortunately with insurance, a good and trustworthy broker seems to be the easiest way to find insurance. Our new broker pointed out we had been talked into a bad policy that we had no hope of ever collecting on if we needed too. We had been paying a hundred bucks a month for useless coverage, which was very annoying to say the least.
