Busiest classified day of the year means Spring Cleaning season is here!

From time to time I like to check in on the stats for eBrandon usage. The site has grown over the past 11+ years to the point where based on usage it’s a mature and important part of the community for the services it provides. As part of that it has the ability to continually surprise me with some of the numbers associated with your usage of it. A few interesting recent tidbits that I came across this afternoon that I figured I’d share....
The first is relating to classified ad confirmations where yesterday’s 811 confirmed ads is the highest total of this year… Granted not completely unexpected as historically there is an uptick in submissions in April and May as people get into a spring cleaning of sort. What is more of a surprise given that the weather isn’t really "spring-like" yet is that yesterday was actually the second busiest day for ad submissions that eBrandon has ever had for that early in the year (Stats for April 6 of last year are showing one single ad confirmation more than what we saw yesterday).
The next is on the discussion forum side of things where last Tuesday was the busiest day in terms of overall posting over the last 12 months with 287 posts. In fact looking at that list of the past two weeks, there’s been a definite overall uptick. Two other recent days ranked in the top 10…. March 31 and April 11. If you want to go back further, last Tuesday was the 2nd busiest day of the last two years excluding days during the 2014 flood (floods have historically resulted in unusually higher traffic and posting).
Finally while doing a stat lookup on the site as a whole in the Google Analytics that I use to track, I see that last Tuesday in terms of traffic was the single busiest day we’ve had on the main eBrandon website since June 10 of last year with over 46,000 user sessions (an average weekday would normally be between 38,000 and 40,000). Going back further it was also the second busiest single day since civic election day in October 2014 and overall one of the busiest days ever when we haven’t been in the middle of a flood (elections and floods have a way of leading to traffic spikes. For anyone that recalls the 2011 flood when for several days I had to change the way the site worked to properly handle extra traffic not just from around this area but Manitoba and Canada).
Cheers to everyone that’s been a part of growing the site to where it is today, to everyone that relies on it for the services it provides and helps contribute to numbers like these!
