What is your opinion on this event? Do the stores have good sales? Is it worth it?

I would never do it again. Sold way to many tickets for the event. If any deals you couldn't get close to seeing them.  
No will not go!!!!!

Never been but heard deals aren't great. I have tickets so plan on going. Bath and body works will be my main stop.

Was debating it - wondering what kind of deals sports chek has.

There were so many people... it was more crowded than an afternoon shopping trip! No special deals either.  
 
One thing about this event is you really have to be sure that what you're buying will not need to be returned because Christmas is still 2 months away: most return before dates are only 30-60 days after purchase leaving it tight to return.

I went several years ago and will not go again. Too crowded, shoulder to shoulder most of the evening. I didn't think there were any huge sales or specials. Often had up to 30-45 minute waits for change rooms and cash register, leaving very little actual shopping time once you got through the ridiculous line-ups. Not a fan of huge crowds when shopping so this was like a Saturday Christmas shopping times ten!! Never again!

I've enjoyed it every year I've gone. It definitely is crowded and busy and there are line ups so if that's not your thing, give it a miss! However, I've always found some really great deals. They should be releasing the list of specials for each store right away. Have an idea of what sales/stores you want to hit up as the 3 hours does go by very fast. I always like to get the sheet sets at Quilts etc. so I make that my first stop as the lineups there get very long! And don't forget to enter your name in all the draws! Have fun if you decide to go!

Does anyone know if Sportchek is part of holiday magic? If they are, what kind of discounts has there been in the past?

If anyone needs a ticket, I have one I'm not needing anymore.

I found a few great deals! I guess it all depends what you're shopping for. I went to children's place, blue notes, stokes, and quilts. I go every year and although the lines are annoying to stand in, I still find it worth it.

No busier than any other day at the mall? Ya right, that place is a ghost town most of the time.  
 
Store line ups were brutal. We waited 30 minutes in one store.  
 
Most stores 25% off and up ?? Disagree again. Wish I had kept the list. Most stores were 10% and lots of stores were offering discount only on selected crap.

^^ Actually the comment you were referring to said "no busier than a busy day at the mall" lol you could have said that a little nicer cause you sound like an ass. Also if you don't like it, don't go.  
All people do is complain about everything, people are never happy.

The three stores I bought things in were 25 - 30% off. excellent deals

Is this Brandon's Black Friday wkd sales? My husband and I are still debating whether or not to do Black Friday in the states or do Black Friday in Canada. Does anyone know what Brandon is doing this year and which locations do it?

Look online for Black Friday sales, though I looked this morning and didn't see much listed yet. The past 2 years I've done a good portion of Christmas shopping in Canada on Black Friday and there were pretty decent deals. (and long lines to go with it!).  
 
Just my opinion but in the US the deal will have to be pretty good for it to be worth our dollar. Though maybe shopping online and shipping to border services could be worth it.

Sure its busy and crowded, but a lot of people take it as an opportunity to shop with friends. Also, keep in mind that the tickets are a fundraiser for different organizations throughout the city, not the Shoppers Mall (directly). I found great deals for anything that I was after and had a good visit with my friends.  
 
Not to deviate the thread but I normally do black friday in the states and with the CDN$ at 30% less than USD it really doesn't pay to go by the time you get a hotel room, meals and pay the difference. Sure there will be some big ticket items that the savings may still be significant but for most things it won't be enough to lure me out this year!
