To the man in the black Dodge truck that stopped to see if we were ok because our car broke down on highway 110 near Brandon at 635 PM on Friday December 16th a big THANK YOU! You weren''t even going our way but you stopped and had to turn around and go the opposite way. Many, Many people drove by and only this kind gentleman stopped. Again THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS!

Good people are hard to spot

Why?

They do their good deed and just move along. Actually, to all the good people out there, it is just normal behaviour to them.

About 8 years ago on our way to Minnedosa to visit family close to Christmas we passed a car sitting on the side of the highway. It was -30 that night. My husband said did you see someone in that car? I said I wasn't sure. We pulled over and turned around and went back to see. Sure enough a young man was on his way home for Christmas, his car broke down, he called CAA 5-6 hours previously, his phone battery had died, he was almost frozen! He had been sitting there for 5-6 hours with his window down a bit trying to wave at cars going by and that is what caught my husband's eye. We took him with us to Minnedosa where he could warm up and call his mom and CAA. My husband took him back to meet the Tow truck and made sure he was on his way safely! It was very scary to think this poor young man could have froze to death on the side of the road as not one person stopped. My husband had some choice words with the tow truck driver too.

So please if you see someone on the side of the road all it takes is a quick stop to see if they are ok. In these temperatures it can be very dangerous

Nice stories. I've often wondered how long it would take CAA to respond as I travel #10 often.

also freeze to death in a short time waiting for someone to save you.
A simple winter survival kit in your vehicle can go a long way to keeping you alive and comfortable until help does arrive.
You don't need a specialty kit for a grand even a cheap wool blanket and chemical pocket warmers can get you through.
