Heyo, I'm not in immediate requirement of internet, obviously. I'm just curious and wondering what ISP's are the best in Brandon. I have plans to move elsewhere in the future, but while I'm here, I'm going to want some better speeds. (I'm a gamer and use my computer a lot to download data and such. I believe we've got a cheap plan with Westman, and I only get as high as 1MB/s downloads.)  
 
Anyone got good plans that are cheap, offer good speeds and lots of data usage?

Not much in the way of cheap, high speed connections. If you want the best that Manitoba has to offer in Brandon, it's either Westman's 60Mbs plan or MTS's 50Mbs plan. You're looking at $85/mo for MTS and $87 for Westman.

You can also get 100 or 250Mbps if you are in one of the new areas of the city served by MTS FiON.  
 
Got good plans that are cheap, offer good speeds and lots of data usage is kind of an oxymoron. You can have good speeds with lots of data but it won't be cheap. Or you can get cheap, but it won't have good speeds. The best way to reduce the plan cost is to bundle it with any other telecom services that you may have.

If you have a smart phone with MTS you can put the two together and only pay for one Data connection. Saves about 30 a month off of lightning 25 for example.

In my opinion MTS provides more consistent service at high speed were Westman drops speeds during peak hours. However both will offer "introductory" pricing for either service. MTS is currently charging 50 for the Lightning 50 instead of 85 for six months. So after that period is over I will retain the same deal with Westman just contact them two weeks prior to your six month period ending.  
 
TLDR: both are comparable, mts a little better, swap back and forth for best value.

What was cheaper? Looking online Westman is 26.95 per month for phone with 13.95 for long distance. Internet is 86.95 for 60mb download for a total of 127.85. MTS is 29.37 for phone or 42 for phone and long distance. 50mb internet is 85. Comparing Phone with long distance and a 10 mb internet difference it works out to a difference of 85 cents between the two companies. This is just pricing off their website though. Do you have different pricing?

I used the discounted price since they had internet too. Otherwise it would be $10.85 higher than MTS.  
 
I have had both services. Both have their ups and downs. Right now I have MTS internet and I have no issues with them at all. Anytime I have problems a quick call in and I get a problem solved. One can always do the 3 month trial pricing and see which one they like the most. For me the more consistent overall service came from MTS.
