Our government sends more than that much money to countries every day!  
 
The Carbon tax - need I say more.  
 
This is an event that will last a week, unfortunately the governments will last a lifetime.  
 
The Royals and their weddings - that is what they are and always will be. Tradition.  
 
I am sure Prince Harry contributed to our economy when he trained as a soldier in Waingright, on a few "pops" - lol  
 
I will enjoy watching it and the cost won't even enter my mind, it will be something of happiness to watch instead of all the other news in the world.

far out weighs the cost to have the wedding. Private businesses will profit from the increased business and the government will see a return in the taxes.

I think its wonderful (all though I wouldn't be up at 3:30 to watch it)...its nice to have happy news for a change. Fairy tales that do come true. Wish them all the best.

Tell them its for a wedding and watch the price triple. Weddings are the definition of frivolous wasteful spending. We had a small wedding with about 50 guests and it was still $15,000....for one day? multiply that by all the weddings going on everywhere in Manitoba alone...should we be skipping our weddings and donating the $15,000 to the united way?

I think he is second to the throne. For the Brits it is a important day. Ignore what we spend on this event.,It is a British not very often event. Pomp and ceremony of this scale is a rare event and in my opinion a treat for the country. Not needed at this scale but media wise we saw and the Brits saw it coming. Nothing like a rare party for a country with strong ties to own type of democratic institutions.

He is not second to the throne - Charles, William then his children Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis and then Prince Harry.

Prince Harry isn't second in line to the throne.  
 
The Queen's son Charles is second in line then it goes William. Next in line to the throne is William's 3 kids in the order they were born. Then Harry comes after that. So Harry is like 6th in line to the throne.  
 
All that aside..... not my wedding not my problem. I could never imagine spending that on a wedding even if I had the money to do it.

All the money that is "frivolously" throw away on all the whiteout parties, jets gear, ticket prices, beer.....everything associated with this hockey mania.  
Now some people might think that's a waste of money.

Yikes! That'a a lot of money! There may be other causes which one can spend $46 million on then a wedding.  
 
While we discussing this, can somebody tell me why I and everyday people should remotely care about the wedding or why the Royal Family is remotely relevant in 2018?

That was a beautiful wedding! Young and gorgeous couple who deserve to be happy! The cost of the wedding is none of my business!

I do not know exactually who pays for all but if taxpayers are i:ncluded to pay for the wedding then it should be their business to say something.

of tax money also returns through increased business. Also huge influx of tourism. Thousands of people bought food, hotels, merchandise and other goods and services. So it went both ways. The private business sector would like events like that. Especially in Windsor itself. I'm referring to the community outside of Windsor Castle where the wedding took place.  
 
I also got a kick out of all of the memes and others on Facebook saying they won't watch the wedding. It's not like you are being forced to watch it. Just like many other events that people post that they are not watching or care about such and such event. Who cares!! I don't care for UFC/MMA, so I don't watch it. Yet others live for it and watch it everytime.

There was a post on facebook that I cannot locate but started out with dissing the expense of the wedding until the writer recalled the image of the little boy following his mother's casket, of his two tours in Afghanistan, of the microscopic inspection of his life by the tabloids (telling only half the story), and a few other things.  
 
Today, Harry was happy and he deserved to be. He has had the world watching his agony and sadness for decades and now the world was privileged to witness his joy.  
 
The monarchy was paying for it from their accounts and nothing was coming from the taxpayers. Any funds that may slip out to cover gifts (donations to charities please) or extra security, etc., can be considered an investment in the economy. The boost to the British GDP because of this event is about three to ten times what was spent depending on which accounting process is used. This is why I also support the money spent on the White-Out parties. The return on investment far outweighs the expense. Can you imagine telling your six-year-old that they cannot have any birthday parties until the mortgage is paid off? Sometimes we have to spend money on stuff that makes people feel good rather than just serious stuff.  
 
I love the simplicity of the wedding dress with the significant embroidered lace veil. I hope this becomes the new trend.

No matter what there will always be someone in this world in need. There is no way we can 100% cure poverty in the world.

Looking at a breakdown the majority is security. Take out the estimated 43 million in security costs and the wedding will cost about 2.8 million. Movie starts and others compare to the same. I saw this about a corvette with the same thinking as you. How many mouths could have been fed with the money instead of having a nice wedding?  
 
How about....  
How many security people will be employed thus providing for their families and putting food on their tables. How many people were employed to make the guns, tactical gear, vehicles, etc. that security will be using?  
 
How many people will be employed to work at this wedding? How many people will be able to feed their families for being able to work on the wedding dress? How many people were employed to create all the equipment, chairs, table clothes, suites, ties, shoes, tailors, the list goes on. Everything from the people harvesting the minerals in the ground to make the custom trumpets, to the cotton pickers making the clothing. Plus the economic spin off is expected to be over a billion dollars. To me that this is a small cost in having thousands upon thousands being able to put food on their own family table.

I really loved watching and keeping up with the royal wedding. Meghan Markle is one of my fave actresses. Not too sure where some of you are getting your outrageous money figures from but I've read on multiple site that her dress cost approx. $134,000 and the wedding was under $50 millon... I understand that's a wack load of money but I'll remind some you that they've asked their guests to make donations in lieu of gifts which will impact those charities incredibly! Also the amount of increased tourism and boosts in economy outweighs the negative comments about how much this wedding cost. Think about all the jobs the wedding created - security, transit, restaurants and all the vendors involved in planning the wedding.  
 
Yes, the royals love to put on quite a spectacle for their weddings but let them! They too are allowed to have the wedding of their dreams - their budgets just allow their dreams to be a bit more extravagant!!  
 
When I think of ridiculous spending, I think of movie budgets and the amount of money spent on product packaging like plastic. The royals will the royals, I just prefer to think on the positive side and I happen to be a hopeless romantic.
