Rec'd hydro bill today and it shows that I'm paying Federal carbon tax (no surprise there) and I'm also paying GST on the carbon tax. I don't recall reading or hearing that we would be paying a tax on a tax but maybe I wasn't paying attention. Exactly what goods or services did I purchase - none that I can see - I paid a tax.  
 
I know there are many other times that we pay tax on tax but this one irks me. Just another sleazy tax grab by the Feds I guess.

GST has always been charged on top of gasoline tax. I suspect alcohol is the same.  
 
A used car can have PST charged on it several times, once with each resale.  
 
Natural gas is a service.

Yes I have read/heard that in the news and various articles.  
 
Just do a search and you will find it.  
 
In one it talks about majority of Canadians don't realize that the carbon tax is added on to the final cost of the item. so $100 items becomes $105. Then GST (not sure of PST) goes onto of that as GST goes on the total cost of the item.  
 
There it is another tax grab.
