Boy who bought laptop from Li gets new computer Boy bought laptop from man charged in bus beheading

MONTREAL — A teenager who bought a laptop from the man charged in the beheading of a Greyhound bus passenger will be getting a new computer thanks to a Montreal businessman.  
 
Sid Stevens of the Sun Youth community group says the businessman called the group after he heard the RCMP had taken the laptop from the 15-year-old as evidence.  
 
Darren Beatty, who lives in Erickson, Man., bought the laptop for $60 from Vince Weiguang Li after he saw Li sitting in a park with a “for sale” sign on the computer.  
 
Beatty alerted police after he heard about the slaying.  
 
Stevens says the businessman, who requested anonymity, thought the boy shouldn’t suffer because of his honesty.  
The community group vice-president says Sun Youth contacted the boy’s mother and offered to pay up to $600 for a replacement laptop for her son.
