Ebrandon member thwarts cheque-cashing scam.

In the B.S. today is a report from Virden RCMP who are investigating an on-line scam on Ebrandon.
Last Wednesday an Ebrandon member in Virden sold an item for $125 in the classified section and received a bank draft for $2,500 from a French purchaser.
The member was told to cash the draft and keep the purchase price plus $50.00 for his/her trouble. Smelling a ‘Rat’ the member took the Draft to the police who confirmed his/her suspicions.
The police are now asking any others who have been approached in this manner to come forward and share any e-mail correspondence with them.
What cheeses me off in these things is that the perpetrators prey on the good nature of the general public, and say they’ll reward you for a friendly favour, and then seriously violate your lifestyle by stealing a large sum of money from you.
Note, I think the member recieved the Bank Draft last Wednesday, I think the transaction happened before Wednesday.
