Assuming you are talking about the federal election our local rep isn't affiliated with the current government. He is affiliated with the Official Opposition.

Why waste time with debates though? The only time Brandon-Souris votes anything except Tory is when the Conservative leader is so loathesome that all but the diehards want to see them gone.

All of the Tories are enjoying hating Trudeau so there will be no change.

Whatever choice you make, let's all make sure to turn out! The idea that your vote won't make a difference is a myth. Whether you want change with our local MP, or like where he is taking us, VOTE! Whether you like the direction of the Federal Gov't or think it needs to better represent you and the diversity that makes this country great, VOTE!

Since Trudeau fulfilled his last election pledge of eliminating "first-past-the-post" voting, every vote counts. Votes for the third and fourth parties will add to their percentage of the popular vote...

Until they stop linking the vote of your local representative to that of the Prime-Minister, a bag of rocks can run locally. I will still vote for the bag of rocks if it represents my choice for Prime Minister. They should not be linked at all. But since they are, my vote for the local representative is really my vote for Prime Minister

For anyone wondering about the electoral system (including the first past the post system), have a look at the Elections Canada website. This is still the system used.

Popular vote is tallied but does not determine the PM.

This really is the best method to vote. Because at the end of the day, your local MP may not have any real say in the house of commons...or at least until they have been around for a while. I grew up in the Regina area, and the same candidate kept getting elected, and it wasn't until he became a cabinet minister that that area saw the fruits from his labours. He is now the public safety minister (Ralf Goodale).
