Trans Canada Accident

There’s an accident on the Trans Canada Highway just west of the 18th St. intersection. Taxi involved, and perhaps a pedestrian. Police have the westbound lanes of the highway blocked off.

No update on the accident that I've seen, but RCMP just allowed a fire truck and ambulance down the highway. Eastbound lane is open, Westbound detour still in place as of right now routes traffic along the North service road until the first turn back onto Highway 1 Westbound past Toromont.

Yes there was a fatality, looks like a cab hit someone on the highway

RCMP have provided further information below. Most sincere thoughts are with everyone effected by this awful tragedy. Out of respect to all involved I would ask that pictures and speculation not be a part of this discussion.

On July 29, at 4:15 am, Brandon #rcmpmb responded to a collision on #MBHwy1, 2 km west of Brandon. A vehicle going west, collided with a person that was laying in the middle of the road. The 30yo female pedestrian, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Investigation ongoing.
