So switching from overtime to flyers.  
 
Obviously wanted the summer free so refused to work overtime.  
 
Not Fall, need overtime to save for Christmas when they will go on strike.  
 
Flyers really. Majority don't like "junk" mail and throw it out. Couldn't really care if they don't deliver them.  
 
Yes money for their employer but really stores should stop sending them out at all.  
 
Postal Workers are putting another nail in their coffin as more and more businesses and people will stop sending or receiving mail so less work equals less money for you.  
 
And always striking at Christmas so you can have a nice holiday Is starting to really turn public opinion against you.  
 
Advice to all out there -  
 
Anyone able to -  
- change everything you can to either email or online services.  
- change everything to direct deposit (smart move anyway as safer and you get money sooner with records)  
- pay bills online or at bank.  
- prepare for postal strike (by figuring out average amount you owe for monthly payments) and pay that so it doesn't affect your services or credit)  
 
- if you are a Christmas card or Birthday card person, mail them early like later this month (perhaps put on back open on certain date).  
- if you can, consider e-transfer for your money gifts that way you can do it closer to date: know they got it.  
- personally I don't buy or mail any gifts as it usually costs more than the gift and hard to know what people want especially children.  
 
Again just think to yourself do I really have to use Canada Post in this day and age.  
 
Only government that doesn't seem to get it is provincial as they seem to have to mail everything. Need to change their mindset.

I Know so many people that no longer get mail because of the last postal strike. They were forced to switch to online/email in order to get their bills because of the strike.

I read this a few weeks ago about how Denmark is actually shuttering it's government-owned postal service for lettermail. It's keeping it's package delivery service.

I thought it was interesting and that Canada's postal workers should take note. Denmark is about 10 years ahead of everyone else in terms of digitizing everything, so it's feasible that we could be in a similar position middle of next decade.

Lots of days this is all I get in my mailbox. I do most stuff online or have found other ways.  
The workers have made it really hard for the business I work for. We send and receive cheques in the mail. We have found ways around the strike that might continue. I am sure many businesses have found alternative more reliable ways to get "mail" where it needs to go. This is not a good thing for Canada Post. We feel they aren't necessary any more.  
I feel like they are being their own worst enemy here and people are frustrated and angry with them.  
I won't go back personally and my business will continue to work around them as well.

I get it, from a purely personal perspective, Canada Post doesn't really impact your daily routine or life.  
 
However, small businesses rely on Canada Post for many things. Your passport application will be delayed, many cheques, notices and important signed documents (law, real estate and banking) all rely on Canada post for registered mail service. They will all be impacted.

I understand that my situation is I can live without Canada Post and many can't . I don't work for a big business. Just saying many are finding a way around the inconvenience of not knowing if mail will go through.  
I have a soft spot for small business.

Since when is overtime mandatory? Would never be an issue if properly staffed.

Striking is a battle in Public Relations. Seems like most unions aren't as practiced at it as corporations. The Christmas strike had bad optics, but looks like they are actively trying to not make the same mistake, but I guess some people still want to be upset?  
 
If an employer is relying on overtime to operate, then that's on the employer, not the employee if the employees.  
 
Sounds to me like the flyer thing is intended for impact on the corporation, without big impact on regular people.

Online/email works great for most things but unfortunately, not bills from the City of Brandon  
 
I recently received a statement from COB, saying that I had a 2 month overdue amount owing, plus late fees. For what was my question?? I hadn’t received any bills from them, nor was I expecting any. After a handful of attempts to connect with someone from COB, I finally got ahold of someone over a week later to discuss it  
 
Turns out that of the two ambulances I had used back in May, one was being charged from PMH and one was from COB. I hadn’t received a bill from PMH yet either. I also, naively I guess, assumed that ambulance bills would come from PMH so in the event of a postal strike, I wouldn’t even have thought to contact the COB to find out if I had any bills  
 
I explained I hadn’t received the 2 prior bills (they said perhaps they were lost in the mail but also said they didn’t receive any undelivered mail back), and I asked if they could waive the late fees. If the COB is going to choose to only have one method of communication to send out bills, then it needs to be reliable IMO. Was told no they couldn’t waive them  
 
I paid the whole amount that day by e-transfer and a couple weeks later I received another statement saying I was now 3 months behind LOL.  
 
Funny how the mail person loses my bills but not my statements with late fees…(ya ya, I get it happens but I’m still bitter about it haha) FYI, the late fees aren’t outrageous, it’s just annoying having to pay them for a bill you didn’t receive or even know about. Would be nice if sending them to our email or city account (if there was such a thing!) we’re options as well as paper mail because obviously paper mail isn’t 100% dependable

Saw that one rural one changed everything by online/email. No paper copies and no mailing.  
 
Though if required by people unable either can’t afford internet to do it municipality would help out doing this adjustment.

About time government says Canada Post has to do major changes as no longer the option of Federal government is going off the table. (Taxpayers bailout)

Canada Post has to do a plan on what changes they are going to implement in order to get their house in order.

Please no more talk of mail home delivery is a wellness check and time for you to gossip. You are not trained or knowledgeable how to do wellness checks and to privacy laws have no right to do them.  
 
Gossip isn’t what you are getting paid for.  
 
Again about time Canada Post is being held accountable. And there will be cuts in management and departments as that what’s happening in any insolvency.

All of mine including bank, legal, leases, etc.  
 
Are all done with electronic signatures and initials or in person. Any emails are considered legal communications  
 
As to passports. You will see this changed as well do mail is no longer required.

Yes you have shot yourself in the foot. Workers are coming to realize.  
 
And yes employers have the right to limit the number of buyouts. Union does not.  
 
Advice take one as soon as available or you will lose out. Even if younger as you can start another career. Canada Post jobs will eventually not be an option.  
 
Offers getting worse. Not sure why union leaders / negotiators didn’t see this coming as the public did.

I'm over Canada Post holding us hostage. I don't know what the right answer is, but we cannot continue to throw money at a business that doesn't make any money. If they won't find a better way to do business, then the country needs to scrap this whole business and recreate a postal system that makes sense as well as stop draining taxpayers.

I don't know what the answer is, but I certainly don't agree with scrapping Canada Post. I don't mind removing home delivery, as that clearly has crushed the company as this nation has become more populated. But without . . . . Good luck mailing anything to anywhere remote.  
 
Look how much cash the govt had to dole out to even begin bringing broadband to the sticks. . . .

I also don't know what the answer is, but I'm concerned about community mailboxes. Just read the article in the Sun today about the couple in the South who were charged with mail theft.

Stealing will happen anywhere and anytime.  
 
As to mail. What about all the stolen parcels and mail from houses who have home delivery.  
 
I know not everyone can.  
 
However if you can.  
 
Direct deposit everything  
Change to email or sign on to see bills and information including governments.  
 
Seeing more and businesses paying by direct deposit or email No cheques in mail.  
 
As to business advertisements social media is way to go and collect emails to send to your customers.  
 
And even papers radio and tv.  
 
I see local ads even on streaming services.  
 
Newspapers are all online for people to see.

Union just waking up to fact that government is serious and facing job cuts.  
 
Trying to gain good will from public That boat has sailed.  
 
Just in case mailing Christmas cards love sending. Maybe might arrive in time for Christmas. Lol
