Can't wait to hear the comments... And lets try not to make reference to the Taman inquiry that issue is done.
--SUMMARY
One of the four RCMP officers involved in the use of a Taser on Polish immigrant Robert Dziekanski, who died, is facing charges of impaired driving causing death after a collision on Saturday night.
Orion Hutchinson of Tsawwassen, B. C., was on his motorcycle when he was hit by a Jeep Saturday evening in Delta. The 21-year-old was thrown from his bike and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Jeep, an RCMP member, was transported to Delta police headquarters where, according to Delta police, he failed a Breathalyzer test.
Delta police spokesman Constable Paul Eisenzimmer said police decided not to hold the officer in custody because he was not considered a flight risk. The decision by Delta police to release the officer also means his name could remain secret for months - if he had been held in custody, he would have appeared before a judge and the charges against him formally sworn.
A Delta Cst. denied the officer received special treatment.
While the officer's name has not been released, RCMP spokesman Sergeant Tim Shields confirmed yesterday that the officer is one of the four involved in the use of a Taser on Mr. Dziekanski at Vancouver International Airport on Oct. 14, 2007.
